“Me camping? Never! What do I win from camping? Who knows what happens there…”. If you have never been camping, these are the first thoughts that come to mind. Where am I going to stay? And a series of such questions that serve only for one thing. They prevent you from enjoying your life. The camp is such an experience that you should definitely try once.

We make sure to make the experience unforgetabble, so you don’t have to worry too much about preparation. What if you want to go camping yourself? How to choose the ideal place?

We have 7 tips for you. Even if you are not going camping yourself, it is a good idea to ask the agency if they have taken care of these seven criteria. Camping is indeed a great experience but needs a little preparation before. Every activity, no matter how small, needs preparation. There is absolutely no need to deal with fear and stress. If these tips are followed one by one, it is guaranteed the experience will be amazing  there is no room for doubts.

1. Look for a place that has been used for camping before.

If you are driving around and see a spot that has been used for camping and is now empty..Well,Luckily for you it’s empty.

“Yes, yes.. but how can we distinguish this place?”

In fact, such places are very easy to distinguish. Look for a fire pit made of rocks and sticks. There you have it. Sure there used to be a camping tent there. To be safe, start and look for any signs that tents have been there before.

You can even sometimes find a suitable camping spot from the satellite view of your computer or phone. It’s really helpful to have a clear idea of where you’re going before you leave home.

Don’t forget to carry a map with you. A good idea would be to download the map in order to use it offline. If you’re going to a place you’ve never been, the chances of getting lost are never zero.

2. Make sure the ground is flat and firm.

This may seem like very basic advice. But a lot of people avoid this advice. They think. “Come on, it’s good. It is just for the night”. Wrong! It will be so uncomfortable that you will be lifted from the sleeping pad you have placed on the ground and you will not be able to sleep at all. You probably think, “I’d rather stay awake than torture my back like that.” What’s more, you don’t want to worry about the soft and wet ground at night.

Camping is for fun, not torture. So never forget to check if the ground you decide to stand on is flat and solid.

3. Consider possible rains.

Although when you go to camp the day may be beautiful and full of sun, you should never be unprepared for the rain. Why? There are a lot of places you’ll need to avoid before pitching your tent. Look carefully at the surrounding terrain. Think about where the falling water will collect. You can’t just guess it won’t rain. Never be unprepared while camping. If a place doesn’t look very safe from a flood or safety standpoint, leave immediately.

Places most prone to flooding? The deserts. If you’re planning to go camping in the desert, it’s a good idea to take this issue seriously. The potential for frequent flooding is very high. Why? Because the rocky landscape of the desert does not absorb water well.

4. Don’t forget to look up and around you.

We saw that the land was firm, flat and there is no possibility of flooding. Great! Let’s put up the tent now. No. Most people make this mistake. Don’t be in a hurry to choose the right terrain.

Check above your tent. Why? Well, I believe you wouldn’t want big tree branches to fall on you during the night or worse, the whole tree to fall on you. Look carefully for “dead” trees. And when you find it, stay away from it as much as possible. Take a walk around the tent and look at the trees from different angles. Make sure the trees are healthy. Healthy trees are usually distinguished from unhealthy ones by color.

5. Consider weather protection.

Lightning, thunder, strong winds must be taken into account. Why? Unless you want to get struck by some lightning, it’s pretty obvious I guess. But how to protect ourselves? To begin with, avoid placing the tent in a completely open and exposed. Instead, pitch the tent in an area with small trees of uniform height. Avoid tall trees in the forest because they have the highest chance of being struck by lightning. Advance protection is never too much.

6. Sun and the shadows.

If you’re camping in the hot summer months, I’m sure you don’t want your tent to get so hot that you can’t get inside. Therefore my advice is to try to keep the tent in the shade. Maybe something that will help choosing the right place is to imagine how the sun will move during the day.

In winter I suggest the opposite. Try to have your tent as exposed to the sun as possible so that it warms up a bit. The winter sun is not very hot, so it will not be a problem to hang out in the tent.

We know that sun exposure can be very important for you. In order to find the perfect place with shade and light, you should not violate any of the tips above. It is very important not to forget this.

7. Keep the right distance from water sources.

It is a very good idea to consider water sources near the camp. Knowing well enough where the water sources are, helps you calculate the amount of water you will need with you. You don’t want to overload yourself or take in less than the water you need.

As a general guideline, the camp should have a water source at least 200 meters away, but make sure you are properly informed before making a decision.

When you arrive at the campsite, instead of getting out of the car and pitching your tent the second you arrive, stop and get quiet. Hear the sound of wind and water. Look carefully at the trees. not just to enjoy their soothing appearance. But to see who is the safest to stay. Walk and observe carefully around the area. Look carefully at the ground, Consider the possibility for any danger. Think about the movement of the sun during the day. And think about where the water will collect when it rains. Think about where you can get information about water resources…
